‘The nearest faraway place’ That's how Morocco is often described. Just four hours flight from London and you're not only in another country, but another continent.
Exotic. Exciting. Enchanting. Morocco is one of the most fascinating countries you could ever hope you explore with your camera. From bustling souks, crumbling kasbahs and biblical villages to magnificent mountains, amazing sand seas and snake charmers, it has everything you could ever want and much more.
This 13-night trip takes in the best of Southern Morocco. Flying into the fabled ‘pink’ city of Marrakech, we will spend two days photographing its medina, souks and gardens before crossing the Atlas Mountains to the ancient kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, Morocco's best example of a fortified village and a backdrop to many a Hollywood epic - including Gladiator with Russell Crowe. Time and weather-permitting, we'll detour en-route to the amazing Glaoui Kasbah at Telouet.
Exploring the Dades Valley along the ‘Route of 1000 kasbahs’, the Dades Gorge with its amazing rock formations, the Todra Gorge and the oasis town of Tinerhir, we slowly head south to the Sahara, via the town of Tinejdad and the kasbah El Khorbat Oujdid. After arriving in Merzouga, on the edge of the Sahara Desert, we trek on camels across the Erg Chebbi sand sea and spend two nights in a luxury desert camp (complete with en-suite tents, double beds and electricity) where we can shoot the amazing desert scenery and clear night skies. Once our desert adventure is over, we travel to the town of Nkob, where we stay in a renovated kasbah, then back to the High Atlas Mountains where we spend a night in a remote mountain village (an easy one hour trek on foot). The trip concludes with two nights in the colourful coastal town of Essaouira - a new addition to this tour.
This is a fantastic photo adventure that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who takes part. You just can't fail to be inspired. I should know - I've led over 20 photo tours to Morocco and I still look forward to going back. The scenery is stunning, the history and culture fascinating and the people friendly and welcoming.
I will be your first point of contact for anything photography-related, so you can contact me at any time, and I will also send out advice on photography equipment, clothing etc approx two months before the trip.
