SLOVENIA IN AUTUMN - NEW WORKSHOP!

In January 2024, I spent a week scouting locations for future Slovenia winter workshops with friend and fellow photographer Mark McColl. We'll be returning with a group in January 2025, but I loved the landscape of Slovenia so much that I can't wait that long, so I've decided to run a 5-night autumn workshop in October 2024!

All the locations we explored on our scouting trip will work just as well in autumn as they do in winter. There won't be snow at sea level (there wasn't much during our recce!) or hoar frosted trees, but there will be stunning autumn colours, mist on the lakes is still highly likely, as are amazing sunrises and sunsets. Fingers crossed!

We'll be based in a hotel on the shore of Lake Bled, which makes the lake itself (quite probably the most beautiful location in Slovenia) easily accessible for our sunrise and sunset shoots there. Other key locations include Jasna Lakes for views of the Julian Alps - hopefully reflecting in the calm waters of the lake - Sava Springs, the Church of St Primus near Jamnik, the Church of St Thomas near Skofja Loka, Lake Bohinj, the Vrsic and Mangart Passes, Vintgar Gorge, Pericnik Waterfall and more.

The group size will be limited to 6 and we'll travel around in a spacious 9-seater people carrier, heading out before sunrise each morning and shooing until blue hour is over (weather permitting) with breaks for breakfast at the hotel and lunch out on the road.

Not all the locations we'll cover on the autumn workshop are included in my portfolio as several are inaccessible during winter due to snow - most notably the mountain passes.

The recommended flights for the trip are with Britiish Airways from London Heathrow to Ljubljana - departing on October 20th 2024 at 17.35 (arriving 20.40) and returning on October 25th at 19.45 (arriving 21.10). If you take different flights that don't arrive/depart at similar times to the recommeded flights, you will need to arrange your own transfers to/from the hotel, which is approx 30mins from the airpoirt.
