WEST CORNWALL COAST - NEW WORKSHOP!
Since moving to Cornwall back in March 2019, I’ve been busy scouting new locations and re-acquainting myself with others that I haven’t visited for years. Initially, this culminated in me organising workshops on the North Coast, and now I’m excited to announce that I’m adding West Cornwall to my itinerary as well.
Based at the lovely Godolphin Arms in Marazion, near Penzance, this new workshop will begin at 6.30pm on the evening of March 22nd 2021 and end around 8.00pm on March 24th. On the 23rd and 24th we'll enjoy two full days of photography, starting before sunrise and ending after sunset. Those of you with long journeys home may wish to stay an extra night – this can be arranged at additional cost on request.
During the two days of photography we’ll travel by minibus from our base in Marazion to a variety of stunning locations. There’s St Michael’s Mount in Marazion itself, and a few miles down the coast, the picturesque village of Mousehole with its tiny harbour and traditional fishermen’s cottages. Heading further west, there’s the beautiful beaches or Porthcurno and Pedn Vounder, with dramatic coastal cliffs.
Land’s End is a must – the views from the coastpath are stunning, and make a great sunset shot. Moving north takes us to Sennen Cove, then the isolated beach of Porth Nanven, favoured by photographers for its sea-smoothed boulders and rocky sculptures. Not far away are the mine buildings of Botallack that cling perilously to the cliffs and are bathed in evening light. If time permits, we’ll also head up onto the North coast to capture Godrevy Lighthouse from the rugged coastline.
Heading south east along the coast from Marazion takes us to the amazing Lizard Peninsula. If weather conditions are suitable (is stormy) we’ll maybe head to Porthleven to photograph the clock tower being lashed by Atlantic waves. Time permitting we’ll also head to amazing Kynance Cove, Mullion Cove, and also spend some time at Dollar Cove and Gunwalloe beach shooting the amazing geology there.
As always, Lee will be on hand at all times to offer help and advice and make sure you return home with some fantastic images, so don’t worry if you come along with a new camera or lens, or a bunch of filters you’ve never used before! As well as shooting classic coastal scenes in colour, you’ll also have the chance to experiment with black & white, long exposure photography, and shooting details.
More information on equipment, clothing etc will be sent out closer to the trip, but feel free to email Lee at email@example.com if you have any queries.
